Nations
World’s End
- Contains Thrown Axe, Broken Shield, etc
- Due to its distance, is in less contact with The Lord’s Church and The Circle
- Not long since it has followed pagan animist religions
- Has had perpetual conflicts between the aristocracy and the working class
- Has a king who is very much a figurehead, with power coming from the nobles
- The King’s Guard essentially act like feds
- Tension between World’s End and Saules has been explosive since the ousting of a (World’s End friendly) Saules duke on the channel coast.
Stamps
- No, seriously
- Every family member has a generational stamp which the patriarch/matriarch of the family holds
- For nobles and the king especially, messing with these is a BFD which will land you an execution in an instant
- Nobility and royalty use ink stamps, everyone else uses wax
Military
- Fortress ships
- Tough blocks of stone bolted onto wooden ships
- Once landed, can be rolled on logs for an easy base of operations during a war
- Needs a lot of people to haul, but that’s something World’s End has no lack of
- The King’s Guard
- Dressed in purple regalia, the king’s personal army
- Basically seen as a nowhere job protecting a king with no real power
- Seen by many as a pathetic waste of resources, as often they divert major resources away from the actual army
Amavo
- Major banking hub city-state
- Basically kept alive by its use as an independent banking entity
- If any indebted nation tried to invade it, Amavo would leverage its debt over other nations to protect them
- Former capital of The Imperial Empire
- The rest of the economy is absolute shite because the Doge’s Council is full of bankers who pour everything into banking
- So despite being able to purchase farmland, they choose to just import everything
- Enormous inequality
- The bankers of Amavo have been given special leave by the Lord’s Ear to legalise usury just for them, this goes back to The Imperial Empire
Beach head winery
- Imports wine from nearby cities
- Closest part of Amavo to vineyards of Trienza
- Hangout for various mercenaries looking for jobs
Groups
The Patrician’s Circle
- Will sometimes use liaisons if the job is particularly dangerous and could reveal The Circle’s existence
- Stringently anti-violence, the only thing that’s kept them alive thus far
The Agenda
- Previously: Installing feudalism into the world
- Now: Ensuring their strong presence in the new world, New Gaia
- Sow chaos in nobility and the markets so they look elsewhere
- Destabilise the old world by inciting/exacerbating wars between parties
- The Saules-World’s End war
- Use the banker to pressure other bankers into financing expeditions to New Gaia
- Use the Cardinal to get the Lord’s Ear to preach about the need to colonise New Gaia
The Lord’s Church
Doctrine
- A “Lord’s Agreement” is something that is strict and cannot be broken without eternal damnation
- To be in effect, a priest or cardinal is required to observe, sign off, and send a copy to Hollow’s Parish
- It isn’t just for business transactions, these are agreements for some of the biggest things in one’s life
