• Lady Hope calls for aid, and she’s not thrilled when it’s Gallant who gets picked

• Maybe Magnus has this semi-mythical, banshee-like lore around her and how scary she is

  • In actuality, she was let go by Lord Commodus

• Why is Gallant sent to Lady Hope?

  • Something related to Magnus?

• Gallant finds a spy in the crapper

  • Goes to bathroom after speech, really doesn’t like the jingoistic rhetoric
  • Gives token greeting to the woman, woman leaves somewhat hurriedly
  • “What ward are you from?” Gallant asks, flatly

• Start with a report of the emperor’s death to really start things off strong

  • If this is going to be a Magnus chapter, why would the death be announced?
  • Maybe it’s an announcement that the emperor’s killer is now at large

• Over at Lady Hope’s, they start to be on to something and just then Gallant is recalled

  • It was the spymaster informing Lord Commodus that they’re on to something

  • It’s after this that Commodus makes his jingoistic speech?

  • This is when City 2’s council gets dieded, and it has something to do with Magnus

    • Maybe Magnus is on the council ship, and in Gallant’s next chapter it ENDs with him being recalled because “City 2’s council ship has been attacked”

• The attempted assassination attempt could make a good chapter END when someone says “she’s woken up.”

• Maybe start Gallant’s chapter with him overstepping his bounds to be a “real knight”

• Gallant is de-knighted, and is only able to escape with the help of some sympathetic knights

• “Who are you?” “I…uh…killed the last sovereign.” “Oh…I see.”

• Magnus keeps attempting to jackrabbit on them

• Why is Gallant keeping Magnus around?

  • Maybe she’s the evidence that Gallant needs, the “sovereign-slayer”
