Everyone in the town crowded around the recently killed mayor lying in the middle of the street, his assassin searching his body and tearing a purple amulet from the mayor’s chest. I took advantage of all the commotion and dropped down from my vantage point snatching the amulet from the assassin stabbing him with my dagger in the head. I ran away from the scene. I burst out of the town gates and made my way into the dark forest.
I kept running following the crumpled up map in my hand until I reached a circle of cut out forest and 5 small logs all being sat on by various people surrounding a stone table. I cut the vines in my way with my sword and threw the amulet onto the table. ‘There’s your little trinket you wanted, now can I have my money?’ I asked the people as they stared at me. A man dressed in heavy armour picked up the amulet and said happily ‘This is perfect! You are the new bearer of the amulet!’ I cocked my head slightly, I do that when I get confused. Then he suddenly threw the amulet at my chest and like a bullet it went through my clothes and into my skin. ‘Hey, what th-’ I said before a searing pain started resonating from my chest.
I fell backwards and looked at my chest. All of the people gathered around the table got up and ran to me as I stared at the amulet in fear. Now it was glowing white and the skin around it was going jet black. A sudden burst of energy came from it and cascaded through my body rendering me unconscious. I woke up to all of the people gathered around me. ‘Look, maybe we should’ve explained a few things a bit better.’ I shakily up and yelled ‘What the hell is wrong with you all? You threw something into my chest and…’ I stared at my chest. The amulet had embedded itself half into my chest and was subtly pulsating. ‘I…I gotta get out of here.’ I said as my voice dropped in pitch.
‘Wait!’ Yelled an extremely tall grey skinned man. I sprinted into the darkness of the forest deflecting every vine and bug that hit me. I ran for a solid hour before the rays of sunshine hit my face signifying the end of the forest. I sat backward ‘My heart is pounding but my breathing are normal.’ I looked on my chest at the amulet. Could it be this? I asked myself. I got up and looked around. I was on top of a hill so I could easily see everything. It was grassland as far as the horizon. It was completely desolate
