Dreaming in Hyperwarp
“Oh, come on. Do we really have to go into hyperwarp?” I asked the captain. Well, captain, he’s my granddad.
“Unless you want the trip lasting more than a hundred years, yeah it’s time to go into hyperwarp,” He responded, still concentrating on the controls
“But, what if what happens last time happens again?” I asked, apprehensive.
“Just remind yourself that it isn’t real. Actually, here,” he said, taking a rubber band out of his coat pocket, “Put this on ya wrist. Helped me in my first few hyperwarps, if you are in a bad situation then reach for and snap that there rubber band. If you can’t find it then you must be dreaming.”
I started grinning as I took the band from him. “Here we go,” he said before forcing a rusty handle forward. I am in a dark forest, how did I get here?
Oh yeah, I remember, I was here to look for granddad. Although, where am I? And why is he here? Oh yeah, he…
I’m not in the forest anymore, I walked out I’m pretty sure. But there’s nothing here, I’m floating and there’s nothing above or below. Wait, there is something below me, the glisten of the moon on the misty, dark forest several feet below.
